Painting with Jesus
Tired, after several days of scraping, sanding and priming, I was sure I couldn’t finish painting this side of our home before ‘quitting time’. I still had about one-fourth of the siding to cover and daylight was fading. Then I heard, “Well, if the Lord isn’t in it…” It was more like my own voice talking to me. So I said quietly, “OK, Lord, if you want in on this job, grab a brush.”
I didn’t look down from the ladder, but behind me I could “see” Jesus as he reached down, pulled up the hem of his tunic, and tucked it into his belt. The next instant I was standing on the ground putting the final touches on the last corner. No time had passed!
I stood for a minute or two, smiling in wonder at what had just happened.
