Volunteer Responsibilities

*These may change depending upon the Sunday, so check in with the team leader to confirm your exact responsibilities.

Environmental Specialists

Arrive by 7:30 a.m.
Setup and tear down chairs, tables, audio-visual system, banners, other equipment necessary to Sunday morning services.
Place the table cloth and sign on the Welcome Table, but please do not setup the rest of the Welcome Table, as it makes it difficult for the Welcome Table Volunteers to do their job.
Start the coffee and hot water in the kitchen, but please do not setup the rest of the beverage counter, as it make it difficult for the Kitchen Volunteers to do their job.
If volunteers for the Welcome Table, Kitchen or Communion have not arrived by 8:25 a.m., feel free to step in and help out, but please not before.

Welcome Table Volunteers

Arrive between 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Have the station ready by 8:30 a.m.
Setup and tear down the items on the Welcome table: name tags, welcome gifts, any other handouts particular to that Sunday.
Help people find their name tags.
Make new tags for first-timers.
Hand out welcome gifts.
Answer any questions and generally make people feel welcome.
Remind people of opportunities on sign up sheets.
Set out sign-up sheets, but do not pack them away. Please get sign-up sheets to Mary Mather after the service, as she or Pastor Phil will need to get to that information during the week.
Be careful to be quiet while putting supplies in rooms down the hall, so as not to interrupt Elmwood’s classes.
Let Mary Mather know of any supplies that are running low.

Kitchen Volunteers

Arrive between 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Have the stations ready by 8:30 a.m.
Familiarize yourself with where all of the Real Church supplies are stored. We have two bottom cupboards near the door leading from the kitchen to the Fellowship Hall. We also have a drawer behind the door.
Setup and tear down the snacks, napkins and plates on the table in the Fellowship Hall.
Setup and tear down the cups, napkins, utensils and beverage condiments on the kitchen window counter.
Set out the snack sign-up sheet. This may be packed away each Sunday.
Keep an eye on the stations throughout the service, making sure everyone has what they need.
Rinse out the coffee pots. Place Real Church’s pots in the bottom cupboards. Leave Elmwood’s pot on the counter.
Be careful not to put any of Elmwood’s supplies away in our cupboards. If you are not sure if something belongs to Real Church, ask. It should be labeled.
In a pinch, if we need to use some of Elmwood’s supplies, we need to put them back where we found them, or replenish them.
Wash, dry and put away any dishes used.
Wipe down the kitchen counters, sweep the floors and empty the trash bins.
Let Mary Mather know of any supplies that are running low.

 Communion Setup Volunteers

Arrive between 8 a.m. and 8:15 am. Have the stations ready by 8:45 a.m.
Setup and tear down the Communion Stations
Communion supplies are kept in the communion box.
In a pinch, 2 small bottles of grape juice are in the Real Church drawer.
Each week prepare to serve 100 congregants.
Be careful not to contaminate the gluten-free host.
The LAST Sunday of the month (whether the 4th or 5th Sunday) use the small cups.
Elmwood is fine with us using their communion trays for the small cups, we just need to be sure they are clean when put away.
Let Mary Mather know of any supplies that are running low
